Ljubljana is quieter in October than in summer, and a stroll along the Ljubljanica with a cup of hot coffee has a special charm. Piran and the coast are peaceful, and the weather is still pleasant ... Actually, not so much in Piran.
That’s because the famous
PIRAN TROPHY takes place in Piran throughout October, so children’s laughter and lively voices can be heard far and wide
If Slovenian clubs miss the tournament in Piran, they have no problem travelling a little farther south, to Split, for example, where they can also take to the pitch and play in the
PRVI KORACI tournament.
That’s why autumn in Slovenia is so beautiful – there’s something for everyone. Let’s see what Slovenia has to offer in terms of the AFT rankings:
GENERATION 2014
Eighteen teams in this generation are enjoying the beauty of autumn, and for now, the rankings are “standing still.” So the top five teams remain in the same order as last week:
1.
NK MARIBOR2.
BRINJE, Grosuplje
3. (two teams share third place)
NK KRKA and
NK IZOLA4.
NK BRAVO, Ljubljana
But that’s just the calm on the surface. In practice, things stand as follows: NK MARIBOR, since they can afford to, “strolled” down to Split, won the
PRVI KORACI tournament without much trouble, and returned home with a gold medal around their necks and 150 AFT points in their pocket.
The boys from Maribor have already won their third gold medal this season, so it’s hard to imagine anyone could dethrone them in this age group.
Still, both we and you will follow
THIS LINK to see whether they can maintain their excellent level of play through the end of the season, and who will try to take the title from them. At the moment, it seems that only BRINJE from Grosuplje might manage it, but who knows ...
GENERATION 2015Last week, we saw three new names appear in this generation’s rankings, and after all that excitement, things quietened down this week.
There are seven teams in the rankings, and interestingly, every one of them except NK SLOVAN from Ljubljana has won at least one medal at the tournaments they have taken part in.
So we’re cheering for NK SLOVAN, as well as all the other Slovenian teams in this age group, to make us happy and “shake up” the rankings a little.
Here is how the top five teams stand today:
1. (two teams share first place)
NK KRKA and
NK INTERBLOCK, Ljubljana
2.
FC KOPER3.
NK KRŠKO POSAVJE4.
NK LITIJA
Until next weekend, follow
THIS LINK and find out which tournaments the teams won their medals at.
GENERATION 2016
At first glance, it seems that this generation has seen the most changes, particularly in the number of teams registered in the rankings. Whether we were a little sleepy last week or there was some other reason, we apologize for misleading you.
This is indeed Slovenia’s largest age group in terms of the number of teams that have earned AFT points, but for now there are 34, not 42 as we stated last time.
On the other hand, the top five teams are now ranked as follows:
1.
NK MARIBOR2. (three teams share second place)
FC KOPER,
NK KRKA from Novo Mesto and
NŠ SLOVENJ GRADEC3.
NK TRIGLAV, Kranj
NK MARIBOR climbed to the top of the rankings after winning a silver medal in Split at the
PRVI KORACI tournament. NK KRKA shared second place thanks to points from Piran, while NK OLIMPIJA and NK BRAVO are now in sixth and eighth place in the rankings, respectively – also thanks to points from the
PIRAN TROPHY.
It seems that the “GAME OF THRONES” is most exciting in this age group. So use
THIS LINK so you don’t miss anything and can discover the other teams that earned points over the weekend.
GENERATION 2017Last week, we watched NK FENIX “fly” to the very top of these rankings. This week, NK MARIBOR made a slightly smaller “leap” and now shares third place. The team from Maribor managed this thanks to points from the PRVI KORACI tournament, and have now joined the battle for the top spots in earnest.
After this weekend, the top five teams are ranked as follows:
1.
NK FENIX, Ljubljana
2.
NK TRIGLAV, Kranj
3. (two teams now share third place)
NK SLOVENSKA BISTRICA and
NK MARIBOR4.
NK RADOMLJE
There are 20 teams in total in this generation’s rankings, and the point differences are small. So we believe that in the coming weekends,
THIS LINK will reveal plenty more interesting details.
GENERATION 2018
Last week, we presented the following top five, and the rankings remain unchanged after this weekend:
1.
NK OLIMPIJA2.
FC KOPER3.
NK MARIBOR TABOR4.
NK RADOMLJE5.
NK MARIBOR
Interestingly, only three of the top ten teams have won two medals each – NK MARIBOR TABOR, NK FENIX and NK DOMŽALE. Even so, NK OLIMPIJA has extended its lead over its rivals, thanks to points from Split.
Both we and you will follow how things develop in this generation through
THIS LINK.
GENERATION 2019There are still only seven teams in this generation’s rankings. Their order has not changed this week either, so the top five are ranked as follows:
1.
NK BRAVO, Ljubljana
2.
NK DOMŽALE3. (two teams share third place)
NK LITIJA and
NK RAČE4.
NK DUPLEK, Spodnji Duplek
In the spirit of fair play, we’ll also mention the other two teams, NK ALUMINIJ from Kidričevo and NK POHORJE, since they are not far behind the leaders.
If you like, follow
THIS LINK to check the point differences between all the teams mentioned.
GENERATION 2020Rather than play around with words to describe the changes in this generation, we’ll make things easier for both you and ourselves and simply copy last week’s text – it still applies:
“
NK JUROVSKI DOL,
ONŠ GOLGETER, HAJDINA,
NK ALUMINIJ and
NK RAČE are the only four teams in this generation’s rankings, in precisely that order. They have been ranked this way since the end of September and the
NK DUPLEK SUMMER CUP tournament.
We hope another team joins them soon and makes this story a little more interesting.
Check in on the four teams from time to time via
THIS LINK to make sure they haven’t wandered off somewhere – out of boredom, if nothing else. Or organize a tournament where they can compete against other players their age.”
