AFT MONTENEGRO: AFTER THE THIRD OCTOBER WEEKEND

Naslovna slika AFT Ranking AFT Crna Gora
Another football weekend in Montenegro passed without a tournament or an opportunity to earn points at one. Or perhaps we simply don’t know about any games that were played somewhere. Still, several teams took advantage of the weekend to pop over to the “neighbourhood” and earn points at the FIRST STEPS and LJUBINKO AKŠAM MEMORIAL tournaments. So, there have been a few small changes, but things are (mostly) quiet in the standings.

2020 GENERATION.
When you open this generation’s page, you’ll probably think the site is under construction. There are no teams that have earned points in this age group and no recorded tournaments. Everything is calm and white, like winter on Durmitor.

Well, it’s not exactly calm there in winter, thank goodness—it’s quite exciting, actually—but we needed something to compare it to.

2019 GENERATION.
Anyone looking at this generation’s table might think that boys under eight play football only in Podgorica.

That’s because just three teams from Podgorica—STARI AERODROM, FENIX and FUDBALITO —make up the entire ranking for this age group. It would be nice if someone else joined them, and even nicer if they were teams from other Montenegrin towns.

Until that happens, follow THIS LINK and (if you get tired of seeing only three names there) practise spelling in English—you’ll need it at the end of the semester.

2018 GENERATION.
The new team in the 2018 generation’s table is FK ONOGOŠT from Nikšić. As we mentioned in the introduction, they went on a football trip over the weekend and had a great time in Trebinje.

They also showed that they play good football, returning to Nikšić with a bronze medal.

That was enough to earn them 15 AFT points, move them into third place, and increase the number of teams in the table by (an astonishing) 25 percent—which gave us a chance to practise a little maths, too.

Here’s how the standings look now:

1. AKADEMIJA BAR
2. JEZERO, Plav
3. ONOGOŠT, Nikšić
4. ZLATNA LOPTA, Podgorica
5. FUDBALITO, Podgorica

While we practise maths, you can practise geography. Take a look at the LINK and tell us which part of Montenegro you’d like the next team to appear there to come from.

2017 GENERATION.
When your team is called STARI AERODROM, it’s not at all difficult to fly to Split for the weekend, easily take first place among the more than worthy competitors at the FIRST STEPS tournament, and return home (to the top of the table) with 150 more AFT points.

“Easy-peasy,” as the English say—and a chance to practise a little English with us, too. While you’re at it, take a look at the standings:

1. STARI AERODROM
2. (there are two teams here now) ŠF HERCEG NOVI and FUDBALITO, Podgorica
3. ZABJELO, Podgorica
4. (two teams share this place as well) DADEKS, Podgorica and AF BEGOVIĆ, Danilovgrad

Besides these, there are eight more names in the table. You can check HERE to see which teams they are.

2016 GENERATION.
There have been two changes in this generation’s table. FK ZLATNA LOPTA, with 40 AFT points brought back from Split, has taken the lead, sending STARI AERODROM and GORŠTAK from Kolašin to “jostle” for second place.

The weekend also went well for FK ONOGOŠT, who brought “silver” back to their trophy cabinet, once again from Trebinje, and “climbed” to sixth place in the rankings.

Here’s what the list looks like today for the top five teams:

1. ZLATNA LOPTA
2. (two teams in second place) STARI AERODROM and GORŠTAK, Kolašin
3. (two teams share fourth place as well) DADEKS and FENIX, both from Podgorica

Since brought, taken, sent, jostle, pass and climb are all verbs, that means we’ve practised our native-language grammar together, too.

You don’t need to thank us—just follow this LINK and check whether a few more verbs appear among the 17 teams listed there.

2015 GENERATION.
ZLATNA LOPTA also “struck gold” in this generation, thanks to the points they brought back from Split and the FIRST STEPS tournament. Actually, they didn’t bring back gold, silver or bronze, but the secret to good teams is that they win even when they’re not at their best. Joking aside (we only wanted to use the previous sentence to remind you to study chemistry and the periodic table of elements, too), the Podgorica team played very well at that tournament, and now rightfully sit at the top of this generation’s table.

So today the top of the table looks like this:

1. ZLATNA LOPTA
2. FK WINNER, Cetinje
3. AKADEMIJA CITY, Podgorica
4. STARI AERODROM
5. NACIONAL

Just to be clear, the AFT “periodic table of elements” for this age group has 13 teams. Check this LINK to see who’s where.

2014 GENERATION.
They say that history is “the teacher of life,” and they also say that history repeats itself. When we look at the 2014 generation’s table, it seems that way to us, too.

So, history repeats itself in this age group’s rankings from one weekend to the next—with STARI AERODROM in first place—which led us to expect things would be the same this weekend.

They now have 40 more AFT points, brought back from Split, but history also teaches us that the other teams won’t take this lying down.

While you brush up on your history, here are the top five out of the 10 teams in the table:

1. STARI AERODROM
2. ZLATNA LOPTA
3. FK BOKELJ, Kotor
4. BREZNICA, Pljevlja
5. AKADEMIJA CITY

If you don’t believe us, check our account at THIS LINK.

There you have it—we’ve covered a whole host of school subjects alongside the tables for our seven generations. So who can still say that sport and school don’t go together!
