Greatest Successes
During the Yugoslav era, Olimpija was known as a stable and tough first-league team, where many giants found it difficult to earn points. The greatest league success in SFRY was achieved in the 1982/83 season by finishing 7th, while the highest achievement was reaching the final of the Yugoslav Cup in 1970, where they were defeated by Red Star.

On the international stage, they made history by reaching the quarter-finals of the Cup Winners' Cup in the 1970/71 season.

After Slovenia gained independence, Olimpija became the absolute ruler of domestic football – winning the first four consecutive titles of Slovenian champions (from 1992 to 1995).

In more recent history (after the club's resurgence in 2005), Olimpija has won several more championship titles and Slovenian Cup trophies, maintaining its status as one of the two largest clubs in the country.

Stadium and Fans
The home of Olimpija's footballers for decades has been the legendary Bežigrad Stadium, known for its unique architecture and exceptional atmosphere. Since 2010, the club has been playing at the modern Stožice Stadium, the most advanced facility in Slovenia.

The passionate fans of Olimpija are known as the "Green Dragons" (Zeleni zmajevi). Founded in 1988, the Dragons are recognizable by their green colors, loyalty, and great support at both football and basketball matches.

The club itself carries the nickname Zmajčeki, after the dragon, which is the official symbol of the city of Ljubljana.

Player and Coach Legends
Olimpija has produced and hosted numerous football stars who have left a deep mark on Yugoslav and European football:
•    Most famous players: Branko Oblak (one of the best Slovenian footballers of all time), Marko Elsner, Džoni Novak, Aleš Čeh, Milenko Ačimovič, Sebastjan Cimerotič, as well as the legendary goalkeeper Primož Gliha. From foreign players, Robert Prosinečki also played for Olimpija with great success towards the end of his playing career.

•    Most famous coaches: Great coaching names such as Nedeljko Gugolj, Branko Elsner, Miloš Milutinović, Slobodan Dogandžić have sat on the Olimpija bench, while in the more recent era, the team has been successfully led by Marko Nikolić, Igor Bišćan, Albert Riera, and others.

Olimpija Today
After a difficult financial period in the early 2000s and reorganization, Olimpija has returned to the top of Slovenian football.

Today, the club is a regular participant in European qualifications and group stages of UEFA competitions (such as the Conference League), where it dignifiedly represents Slovenian football and regularly competes for all domestic trophies in a major derby against its eternal rival, Maribor.

Youth Academy and AFT Ranking
In addition to its rich senior history, NK Olimpija pays exceptional attention to working with younger categories.

The youth academy and children's football school of this club are considered one of the strongest in the region, regularly gathering exceptional talents and achieving notable results in regional and international tournaments.

The continuity of quality work and success of Olimpija's youth selections is clearly reflected in the AFT rankings through the seasons:
•    Season 2024/25: The youth selections of Olimpija collected a total of 420 AFT points.
•    Season 2025/26: An even greater rise followed, when they collectively won as many as 505 AFT points across all generations.
•    Season 2026/27: At the very beginning of the new competitive season, Olimpija already has 50 points registered in its "account," with a tendency to once again occupy the top of the table.
